How to Prepare for The Florida Police Exam?

Becoming a police officer in the State of Florida is a career goal you can be proud of, but it isn’t one achieved without hard work and preparation.

The road to becoming an officer in the state of Florida, like with most states, requires the passing of a police-specific aptitude test. However, Florida is known for doing things a bit differently than most states, and their employment testing is no different.

Instead of being issued a specific test to become a Florida Police Officer, potential recruits must pass one of three approved exams:

  • Florida Basic Ability Test (FBAT)
  • Criminal Justice Basic Ability Test (CJBAT)
  • Entry-Level Police Exam by Morris & Mcdaniels

In addition to passing one of these exams, candidates may also be required to pass the Test for Adult Basic Education (TABE).

FBAT, CJBAT, and the Entry-Level Police Exam for Florida Officers

These exams all have similar testing points that cover the standard knowledge, behavioral aptitudes, and general qualities though necessary to excel in the criminal justice workspace. Each test is slightly different, and whether you will get to choose which test to take or be required to take a specific test is determined by the county you apply to and the position.

FBAT Quick Facts:

  • There are 100 questions that must be answered in under 1.5 hours.

TABE Quick Facts
